I like to talk about what I learn in Philosophy class, we usually call those sorts of things Philosophy.

I like "Where "WTF?" Meets "WTF DO I CARE?"" but I agree with Francine insofar as the board should not be negative. While she does not care for philosophy, thats fine, some of us do. I say just leave it as is. Philosophy Corner is a suitable name.

This is out of fucking control.

I don't know what's truly behind this attitude of yours, Franc, but any suggestion that philosophy is 'bullshit' or 'useless' or whatever other inherently negative term you feel like attaching to it, is utter nonsense.

Without scanning the entire web, I will cite the crucial statements from the Wikipedia article entitled 'Definition of Philosophy' in order to get through that thick skull of yours:

1. there is "no straightforward definition"
2. the philosophical method is rational, systematic and critical, or characterised by logical argument
3. philosophy differs from science in that its questions cannot be answered empirically, i.e. by observation or experiment, and from religion, in that its purpose is entirely intellectual, and allows no place for faith or revelation.
4. the late 20th-century... prefers to see philosophical reflection as continuous with the best practice of any field of intellectual enquiry
5. it is "thinking about thinking"
6. philosophy is critical thinking ... philosophy examines the beliefs we take for granted
7. the subject matter of philosophy is "the most fundamental and general concepts and principles involved in thought, action and reality"
8. the purpose of philosophy is to unify and transcend the insights given by science and religion

Honestly, that you would come to see no value in such a concept/activity/endevor is quite literally beyond me. You've either become a complete idiot, or you're just rocking the boat because you're bored with your life at the moment.

Personally, I'd be satisfied with a title such as "Thinking about Thinking". Discussion?

I suppose I wouldn't have a problem with that either. But that's sort of the point, isn't it? That 'philosophy' and 'thinking about thinking' (or in other words, examining how thoughts, beliefs - and, dare I say, philosophies - can and do effect our lives) are one and the same.

Again, I can't stress it enough, any suggestion this, by whatever name, is 'useless' or not worthy of a forum, is just plain silly. Franc's out of his mind.
