TenderSensibilities.com is intended to provide a home for and let people express their opinions about "offensive" cartoons.

At this time, this forum is for suggestions and comments. That function may change. If it does, I'll edit this post accordingly.

The site is still in development. As work progresses, I'll post about it in a separate thread.

What I think about offensive cartoons: I think they're great, as long as they agree with me.

Offensive cartoons (I am centering on comic strips) quite often end up being scuttled by syndicates or individual newspapers, or moved into the opinion page where the controversy seems to wane as less folks tend to view them, thereby lessening their impact, or does it?

Doonesbury in general is one of these, he has definitely angered me at times when he attacks legal markets such as tobacco, but also makes me quite happy when he nails someone of power spot on.

This particular comic was typical of the way he would attack an institution about a very sensitive issue, a psychopathic killer running around NYC

The New York Daily News refuses to publish the "Son of Sam" series that ridicules the paper for its sensationalist coverage of the mass murderer.

This one was hilarious:
6-16-78
Doonesbury urges readers to find out more about "Koreagate" by sending a newspaper coupon to Speaker of the House Tip O'Neill, who is not pleased when over a dozen sacks arrive. Prior to the strip's release, an O'Neill aide had called Universal Press Syndicate and attempted to stop its publication.

I've installed an image gallery program and I've uploaded some images, starting with the Danish cartoons. A few others, too.

I haven't done any modification of the gallery appearance yet but I eventually want to try to make it somewhat match the front page. If you want to look at what's there so far, go to http://tendersensibilities.com/gallery

So when should we forward this URL to everyone in Canada who could possibly be offended by it? I wanna see Brad take on the HRC already!

I'm thinking, though, that if the HRC should get involved, I might just refuse to participate. Well, as much as I can refuse without being forced at gunpoint.

Anybody else having trouble connecting to TenderSensibilities.com?

This gives me a "could not be found" error: http://www.tendersensibilities.com/

This doesn't: http://63.247.69.130/~tender/

The hosting and the domain registration are with two different companies. The problem apparently is with the domain. So, I'm off to take a look at the settings for the domain at GoDaddy.

GOTG uses the same hosting and the same domain registrar as does TS and GOTG is working fine. So, it's something specific to TS.

Later...

Huh. The nameservers somehow were set to something other than what they were supposed to be. That's odd. Well, they're set properly now so I guess I'll have to wait a bit for the changes to propagate.

Does anybody else have trouble loading this: http://www.tendersensibilities.com

I still can't see it and I'm starting to wonder if it has been blocked somewhere between me and it.

Funny thing, I can still access ftp.tendersensibilities.com with FileZilla but I can't access http://tendersensibilities.com with Firefox or IE.

I've done some work on modifying the gallery to make it match the design of the main page.

Also, I've added a random cartoon display thingie on the main page.

Never mind. I can see it now.

Do take a look at the changes.
