The fact that human population growth is levelling out is so well-known that I've seen Christians try use it as an argument against homosexuality and non-procreation by choice. In one argument that I foolishly let myself get drawn into, the Christian claimed to be concerned that humanity is on a path to extinction through slowing population growth and, eventually, population decline, mostly because the damned fags don't make babies. :lol:

Strangely enough, Buckminster Fuller predicted (in the 1930s!) an increase in homosexuality as a natural human response to increasing population, as we neared the limit of sustainability.

IOW, the Christians who make that argument have failed to consider the possibility that they've gotten their cause-and-effect backwards, in addition to the fact that they suck at math.

Oh, many Christians are not millinarianists. I think most Christians (except maybe for most American evangelical fundamentalists) realize that the Bible is not at all clear on that sort of thing.

(When I was in Bible college, I wrote an anti-millenarianist op-ed piece in the student newspaper (I was the editor) and the president of the school liked it enough to quote it in a sermon the following Sunday.)

Well, those who would make such an argument make it mostly, I think, because they're opposed to homosexuality and I'd expect their bias to impede their ability to look at the matter rationally.

Sure. And a sizable chunk of every generation of Christians has believed that they were the last. Nowadays, though, I think many Christians think that, if Jesus could wait 2000 years to come back, he can just as easily wait many more thousands of years. (And that's not counting the ones who see Revelations and "the second coming" as strictly metaphorical.)

And yet you still trust relativity?

I mean, Einstein's political screeds were demonstrably inadequate and hopelessly naive. By your revealed standard, you should therefore reject relativity, since it, too, was authored by someone who once wrote something which wasn't true.

As I said, the motivation for your curiosity is the measure of the value of any discoveries you make while indulging it. I note that you haven't answered my direct question to you about your motivation, above.

Double-standards in your favor are arrogance; a strategy of insulating yourself from reality, a feedback- and evidence-avoiding ideological approach.

Double-standards which disadvantage you are a sign of humilty, an attitude of searching. You should try it sometime...like when you develop some honest curiosity.
