But what if you want to change a parameter of the board?

Then we're fucked.

I know, it's not a very good system, but the site's set up perfectly fine and none of the members want to have admins again. There is still the "superadmin" account, but the password's been lost.

That's the problem. The message board system is set up with autocracy in mind. We can't help that.

I contemplated giving all users - including guests - full administrative access to the site, and raping the Admin Control Panel (I'm good at that) so no-one could ever change it back. It would've been an interesting experiment.

That's one solution- which unfortunately probably wouldn't be that good of an idea, unless there were methods in place to check changes (like on wikipedia).

in short: spam and off-topic threads.

Indeed. I think that being a mod at GOTG is somewhat comparable to being a janitor, as opposed to being a governor or somesuch.

Personally, I don't care much. Leaving it as The section formerly known as "Philosophy Corner" suits me as well as almost anything else does.

The section description should be changed to "Offer your incoherent worldviews as sacrifices to be torn apart in the merciless arena that is SCIENCE".

It's 3:30AM and me and Nick are philosophising. Moar later, in a seperate thread.
